Hugo Wolf’s Birthplace in Slovenj Gradec
In Slovenj Gradec, you can explore the life and work of the renowned composer Hugo Wolf (1860–1903). His birthplace museum showcases his musical legacy as one of the greatest masters of art songs. The house also serves as a venue for musical events, keeping Wolf’s heritage alive and accessible while bridging classical and contemporary musical arts.
Just a few steps away, you can visit the unique African Collection and the rich Soklič Collection, both of which spark the imagination. On the outskirts of the town, you’ll find the picturesque Church of St. George in Legen, which stands on the remains of an early medieval church from the 9th century. Prežih’s Homestead – A Tribute to Prežihov Voranc
Above Kotlje, we invite you to visit Prežih’s Homestead, where you can explore the legacy of writer Lovro Kuhar – Prežihov Voranc (1893–1950). This traditional Carinthian farmhouse, featuring an authentic black kitchen, offers an insight into simple rural life. Nearby, you’ll find a wooden granary and a traditional herb and vegetable garden, while at a scenic viewpoint, a monument to the writer, created by sculptor Stojan Batič, stands proudly.
The Old Ironworks in Ravne na Koroškem
The Old Ironworks in Ravne na Koroškem preserves a 400-year-old tradition of steelmaking and tells the story of the economic development of the Mežica Valley. In these historic industrial buildings, visitors can explore the history of steel production, admire massive industrial machinery, and experience the craftsmanship of blacksmiths in an interactive forge.
The Historic Village of Libeliče
The charming village of Libeliče is known for its rich cultural heritage. At the rectory, you can explore an authentic black kitchen, where pottery, wooden utensils, and an open fireplace reveal the culinary traditions of the region.
Step into a historic classroom from the early 20th century and relive the school days of the past. In 1922, Libeliče made history with a victorious plebiscite, where determined locals succeeded in joining Yugoslavia. This inspiring story of national identity, resistance, and triumph is showcased in the permanent exhibition “Libeliče 1922”. The parish barn offers an insight into traditional rural life, illustrating seasonal agricultural activities and the daily work of farmers.
Memorial Collection in Dravograd
In Dravograd’s municipal building, a memorial collection dedicated to the Nazi occupation during World War II is preserved. Visitors can explore former prison cells, personal belongings of prisoners, and survivor testimonies, which provide a moving insight into the suffering and resilience of those affected.
Radlje Manor – The Story of the Pahernik Family
At Radlje Manor, discover the extraordinary story of the Pahernik family, whose economic and cultural contributions significantly shaped the development of the Drava Valley and Pohorje.
